ABOUT THE PROJECT

In 2018, the WRTC teamed up with the Sawtooth National Forest - Ketchum Ranger District, National Forest Foundation and Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation to reconstruct 4.7 miles of Alden Gulch Trail #144. The trail had been essentially destroyed by the Beaver Creek Fire in 2013 and subsequent debris flows due to major rain events in the weeks after the fire.

Titus Trails (previously known as Red Elephant Trails in 2018) was contracted to rebuild Alden Gulch and completed re-construction in fall of 2018. The trail was realigned from the original footprint to adhere to more modern sustainable design standards, and features new design elements to create a fun and more challenging mountain bike experience than what is typically found in the area.

The trail was officially reopened to the public in 2019. Alden Gulch provides an essential link between Baker Creek Road and Osberg Ridgeline Trail #147, creating an iconic loop for visitors and locals alike.
