4 volunteers spend a cool morning re-benching the popular Kane Summit Trail in the Salmon-Challis National Forest
When we’re looking at getting our trails in top condition to weather the next winter snow and spring melt, knowing how to move water efficiently off the trail is key! A crew from Wild Rye came to learn how to prep a trail like Shady Side for another heavy winter.
As you can imagine, trails through meadows are notorious for being hard to manage and maintain. They tend to be in wetter areas and have few opportunities to drain water off the trail. Read about how we addressed a perennial wet spot and fixed a popular stretch of trail!
On Saturday, July 29, 6 volunteers joined us at the Mill Lake Trail to rebuild 3 water bars, rebench 15 feet of trail and enjoy a delicious lunch provided by Sawtooth Back Country Horsemen. Read More!
Over the July 7-9 weekend, 14 women came together to clear a whopping 62 trees and brush an impressive 2.5 miles of trail!

There are multiple road closures in the Ketchum Ranger District. Due to large amounts of snow still on the ground the Forest Service has decided to keep certain roads closed for the month of May.
