What to expect at a volunteer work party
Our volunteer events are intended to be approachable and fun. We just ask that you be willing to get a little dirty!
Most of our events do not require any previous knowledge of trails/trail work. Our intention is to hold events that bring our community together, provide some trail education, and are a fun way to enjoy the trails that make our valley so special.
Volunteer work parties will begin by going over the basics and making sure everyone is equipped with the proper gear, PPE (personal protective equipment) and trail tools. We will provide you with hard hats, gloves and trail tools. You need to come equipped with closed-toe shoes, pants, and eye protection/sunglasses. A small pack is nice to have for water, layers and a snack. As a group, we will head out to the project site and break up into smaller groups - don't worry you'll always have someone with some trail experience nearby. We'll then dig in and do a bit of trail work for an hour or two (work site and time dependent), then head back to the trailhead for some snacks and drinks.
Each volunteer work party will be posted on our events calendar with a more detailed description of the project including where, when, difficulty, project description, what to bring/wear, what we will provide, directions, and a form to RSVP. To view our current events calendar, click HERE.
We plan our work parties in coordination with the US Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management to ensure they are productive and necessary. We only work on sanctioned trails.
