Join us for our first trail work day of the season! We are partnering with another local nonprofit Camp Rainbow Gold, whose mission is to provide emotionally empowering experiences to Idaho children diagnosed with cancer and their families. Part of their program is to provide riding opportunities for those with adaptive sport needs or who just haven’t had the opportunity to ride a bike before. This aligns perfectly with our mission in maintaining and building trails for ALL users.
Camp Rainbow Gold has six miles of new trail at their camp in Fairfield, called Hidden Paradise, and needs some help getting them ready for campers this summer. They have both adaptive mountain bicycle and singletrack trails on their property, designed for various skill levels. We are excited to help them buff these trails out!
This work party will be a great time to learn more about what goes into an adaptive mountain bicycle trail, as well as give back to a community of kids who might not otherwise have the opportunity to ride bikes. This event will not only give our Trail Bosses and volunteers a chance to enhance their understanding of what is needed to make our trails more adaptive sport friendly, but also give us a chance to dust off the winter rust from our trail building skills in preparation for a busy and productive trail season.
We recognize that Camp Rainbow Gold’s Hidden Paradise is not located in the Wood River Valley per se, but they have deep local ties and are helping make trails and mountain biking more accessible to all. We feel that not only does this present a great opportunity to work on new trails and learn about adaptive trails, but also to help a fellow nonprofit with an important mission.
This event is open to anyone who wants to join, no need to have previous trail work experience. Bringing your mountain bike is encouraged, as volunteers will have the opportunity to ride on the brand new, never ridden singletrack trail afterwards!
