FOX CREEK BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT
A BETTER CROSSING FOR FOX CREEK
The Fox Creek Trail is one of the most loved rides and hikes in the Wood River Valley—but the creek crossing has become a weak link.
Repeated flooding has damaged the existing bridge and turned the crossing into an unstable mix of logs, water, and guesswork.
We’re building a permanent solution: an engineered bridge that spans the entire floodplain, keeping people safe while allowing Fox Creek to move naturally across the landscape.

Your support helps us replace a failing crossing with a durable, long-term solution for one of our region’s most popular trails.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Fox Creek moving around the existing footbridge
Why This Project Matters
Fox Creek Trail sees over 26,000 visitors each year. It’s a cornerstone of the local trail network and a favorite for mountain bikers, hikers, runners, and families.
But when the bridge washes out, the experience changes.
Instead of a smooth trail ride or hike, users are forced to ford the creek or balance across slippery logs—creating safety risks and damaging fragile streambanks.
Replacing the bridge restores the trail experience and protects the landscape at the same time.
The Solution
We’re replacing the current crossing with a 70-foot engineered steel trail bridge designed to span the entire floodplain.
The new bridge will:
Provide a safe, reliable crossing during all water conditions
Eliminate streambank erosion caused by people searching for places to cross
Allow the creek to move naturally across its floodplain
Support thousands of trail users every year
It’s a long-term solution to a problem that has required temporary fixes for years.
Built to Last
The new Fox Creek Bridge will feature:
Weathering steel designed for decades of durability
A six-foot-wide riding and walking surface
A design engineered for heavy trail use and mountain conditions
Once installed, the bridge will provide a reliable crossing for generations of trail users.
