ABOUT THE PROJECT

After 1.5 miles on Trail 1, trail users will find Trail 2 (official name coming soon). Trail 2 features a distinctive shape around Point 6929, forming a short loop off Trail 1 before rejoining the main trail.

Trail 2 is a scenic 0.5-mile loop branching from Trail 1 that circles Point 6929 through mature Douglas-fir and aspen forests before reconnecting with the main trail. The rolling terrain and short loop provide a fun addition for riders and hikers looking to extend their outing without adding significant elevation gain.

Although constructed at a 36-inch width to accommodate equipment during construction, the surrounding vegetation will naturally narrow the corridor over time, giving the trail the feel of classic singletrack.  This trail has been designed with motorized users as the primary user group, but does not have any motorized or bike specific features.  The rolling nature of the trail makes for a perfect lolly-pop loop experience when combined with the first 1.75 miles of Trail 1.

Trail 2 will be constructed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Shoshone Field Office, in partnership with the Wood River Trails Coalition and Titus Trails.  It was authorized by the BLM Wood River Valley Recreation and Access Decision Record.  This trail is open to motorized users, Class 1, 2 & 3 e-bikes, mountain bikes, equestrians and hikers.

The Decision Record for the Wood River Valley Recreation and Access Environmental Assessment authorizes construction of approximately 81 miles of new trails as well as seven new trailheads and 21 new designated dispersed campsites primarily in the Kelly and Quigley Gulches and Cove Creek. It also changes some existing trail designations to allow the use of e-bikes.
