WOLFTONE-KELLY CONNECTOR TRAIL
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Kelly-Wolftone Connector is a 4.5-mile trail that will eventually connect Kelly Canyon to the Wolftone-Curran Trail, creating a new route through mature Douglas-fir forests and across the slopes of Kelly Mountain. Built in phases over several years, the trail offers gradual grades, scenic viewpoints, and an enjoyable experience for a wide range of trail users.
In 2026, the first 1.75 miles of the Kelly-Wolftone Connector Trail was completed. This first section of the trail is an entry-level trail featuring a gradual climb of about 575’ through mature Doug Fir forests to an overlook with panoramic views of the West side of Kelly Mountain. Future phases will climb several hundred additional feet before contouring west to meet the Wolftone-Curran Trail (#160).
The first 1.75 miles of the Kelly-Wolftone Connector was installed at a 36” width, but the dense foliage that it runs through will bring the trail down to a classic single track feel within a few years. This trail has been designed with motorized users as the primary user group, but does not have any motorized or bike specific features. The climbs are gradual enough that mountain bikers will appreciate its smooth, rideable grades, while hikers and equestrians will enjoy the climb and expansive views.
This trail is a work in progress, and will be built by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Shoshone Field Office, in partnership with the Wood River Trails Coalition and Titus Trails. It has been authorized by the BLM Wood River Valley Recreation and Access Decision Record. This trail is open to motorized users, Class 1, 2 & 3 e-bikes, mountain bikes, equestrians and hikers.
The Decision Record for the Wood River Valley Recreation and Access Environmental Assessment authorizes construction of approximately 81 miles of new trails as well as seven new trailheads and 21 new designated dispersed campsites primarily in the Kelly and Quigley Gulches and Cove Creek. It also changes some existing trail designations to allow the use of e-bikes.
