Sawtooth Back Country Horsemen Volunteer to Work on Johnstone Creek Trail!
The Sawtooth Back Country Horsemen understand the meaning of TREAD WORK!
If you spend any time riding horses, you understand how precarious tread can be when it is sloughing off, heavily outsloped, and narrowing by the year. That was exactly the condition of the Johnstone Creek trail for a quarter mile from the trailhead, so we came together to fix about 1,000 feet of tread and brush about 1,300 feet.
This is an iconic trail leading to the Pioneer Cabin that doesn’t see a ton of yearly maintenance, so we’re extremely grateful for the work on this section. Vibes were high due to positive attitudes, and we soaked in the smell of wildflowers and even enjoyed some views of beavers swimming below.
If you are part of a group and want to give back to the trails, sign up to come work with us as a “BYOC” or Bring-Your-Own-Crew!
