Trail Counter Mid Season Round Up !

It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for: The WRTC Trail Monitoring Program Mid Season Round Up!  This time of year, we share with you all a representation of trail use across the Wood River Valley for the 2025 season so far. Keep in mind that these totals represent the number of detections the counters collected but not necessarily individual users (if someone were to travel out and back on a trail they would be counted twice). In other words, the following data is a general representation of trail activity and not an exact count of trail users.

So far this season, the top 5 locations with the highest daily averages for trail counter detections were:

  1. Greenhorn

  2. Fox Creek

  3. Old Adam’s Road

  4. Pettit Creek

  5. Hang Tight/Hang Loose

The 5 trails with the LOWEST detections were:

  1. Forbidden Fruit

  2. Kane Summit

  3. Golden Hour

  4. Prairie Creek

  5. Taylor Canyon

We’re stoked to see so many people getting out this year, and can’t wait to see what the data tells us about the trail season as a whole at the end of the year!
