Supporting Trails On Your Public Lands
over 400 miles surrounding the wood river valley In central idaho.
Official partner of the Sawtooth National Forest Ketchum Ranger District, and the Bureau of Land Management.
With our Hybrid Trail Crew.
In collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service, Sawtooth National Forest - Ketchum Ranger District (KRD), the WRTC has a hybrid trail crew that consists of WRTC employees and KRD staff. They work as one crew on the 400+ miles of KRD trails surrounding the Wood River Valley. Because of this model, you have a fully staffed professional crew maintaining your favorite trails!
Through Project Collaborations.
We collaborate with the U.S. Forest Service, Sawtooth National Forest - Ketchum Ranger District (KRD) and the Bureau of Land Management - Shoshone Field Office to execute trail projects on trails surrounding the Wood River Valley. Our project collaborations have ranged from building new trails, upgrading trail bridges, improving trail design and maintainability, as well as giving well-loved trails a needed facelift.
Through Engaging Volunteers.
We create ambassadors, through our Volunteer and Trail Stewards Programs, that can help us elevate the standard for trail work within our service area. These ambassadors are able to share our Mission and Vision with the broader community and help us strengthen our partnerships with federal land management. Through our Trail Bosses Program, volunteers can gain approval for independent project leadership, where they increase our organizational capacity for accomplishing more trail work.
With Consistent Trail Monitoring.
The Trail Use Monitoring Program was created in 2021 to better understand trail user patterns and obtain up-to-date info on our valley’s hiking, biking, and riding trails. The program uses trail counting equipment and software, and observations collected by volunteers, to continuously assess use levels and traffic patterns on trails in the Wood River Valley.
Building a donor and member-base that reflects our community, trails and mission.
