Women in the Wild Partnership with Idaho Trails Association gets Serious Work Done!

Over the weekend of July 17-19, we partnered with the Idaho Trails Association to host the annual “Women in the Wild” volunteer weekend. We took on an ambitious goal to dig a reroute across a steep side slope to increase safety and sustainability. This area will always be steep and tricky to maintain but we are now in a much better place to do that work.

We had a smaller group than originally planned but talk about overachieving. By noon on our first day we had connected the two sides and in the afternoon were able to create a passable route and close off and start rehabbing the old path. The second day was spent widen, touching up the back slope and evening out the tread.

It's amazing what a motivated group of folks can achieve, having 8  steady workers really makes these types of projects happen in a short span.  By noon on our second day we had the trail in spot where we could move on to addressing the trees across the trail.

This section will definitely need some follow-up work, as any new construction does, but it’ll be heavy maintenance versus new build.
