Wood River Bike Team Rakes Silver Lining
Before this rain hit, we spent Thursday August 21 working in true “dust bowl” conditions—the wind kicking up around us and the sun sinking low as we hiked out. Despite the gritty atmosphere, the mighty Wood River Bike Team crew made a big impact on the Olympia Gulch side of the Silver Lining trail.
Last week, we didn’t have our usual high school crew join, but the middle schoolers showed up strong! With just nine volunteers—six Bike Team riders, two supportive parents, and our ever-reliable Wendy keeping us organized—we tackled a solid stretch of trail. Together, we raked out corners, cleared loose rock, and smoothed the tread for future riders and hikers.
By the end of the night, the team had covered just over half a mile of trail—2,978 feet to be exact. Not bad for a dusty evening with a dedicated crew!
Huge thanks to everyone who came out. Working with the Bike Team is one of the highlights of our season - can’t wait to see everyone on the trail at the next work party!
