Wrapping Up The Volunteer Season on the Fox Creek Trail

There’s no better way to wrap up a season of trail work than with a little sunshine, some good company, and a chance to give a favorite trail some love.

Last Saturday, eight volunteers joined our WRTC staff and hybrid trail crew for our final volunteer event of the season. After a full day of steady rain on Friday, we lucked out with a gorgeous, sunny day to get out on Fox Creek Trail and spread native seed from the trailhead to the new bridge.

The goal was to help the trail recover following the installation of the Fox Creek bridge this summer. The construction crews were careful to minimize their impact, and flying the bridge in by helicopter helped keep disturbance to a minimum. Still, there were a few spots where machinery had widened the trail, leaving us with an opportunity to help things return to their natural state.

So, we got to work seeding disturbed areas and helping the trail settle back into the landscape. The hope? To encourage regrowth, soften the edges of the construction footprint, and get Fox Creek back to that classic, beloved singletrack experience we all know and love.

It's a fitting way to close out our volunteer season: a little hands-on work to help a trail heal, surrounded by the people who care about keeping our trails in good shape.

A huge thank-you to our eight volunteers, our hybrid trail crew, and everyone who came out to lend a hand this season. Trails don't take care of themselves, and we're grateful for this community that helps make it happen.

See you out there next season!
