BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT TRAILS CONSTRUCTED BY THE WOOD RIVER TRAILS COALITION AND PARTNERS
FALL 2026/SPRING 2027 BUILD SEASON
TRAIL 1
Trail 1 is a 4.5-mile trail that will eventually connect Kelly Canyon to the Wolftone-Curran Trail, creating a new route through mature Douglas-fir forests and across the slopes of Kelly Mountain. Built in phases over several years, the trail offers gradual grades, scenic viewpoints, and an enjoyable experience for a wide range of trail users.
In 2026, the first 1.75 miles of Trail 1 will be completed. This first section of the trail is an entry-level trail featuring a gradual climb of about 575’ through mature Doug Fir forests to an overlook with panoramic views of the West side of Kelly Mountain. Future phases will climb several hundred additional feet before contouring west to meet the Wolftone-Curran Trail (#160).
TRAIL 2
Trail 2 is a scenic 0.5-mile loop branching from Trail 1 that circles Point 6929 through mature Douglas-fir and aspen forests before reconnecting with the main trail. The rolling terrain and short loop provide a fun addition for riders and hikers looking to extend their outing without adding significant elevation gain.
Trail 3
Trail 3 is an access trail designed to consolidate users from the adjacent draws onto Trail 1. Running along the toe of a steep sagebrush hillside, this trail functions mainly as a point of access.
The 0.85 mile trail gradually gains and loses about 100’ of elevation as it traverses from the side canyons to Trail 1 on the nose of the ridge.
FALL 2025/SPRING 2026 BUILD SEASON
QUIGLEY-HANGMAN CONNECTOR
The Quigley-Hangman Connector is designed to make the unofficial “social” trail an official route that connects the new Hang Tight/Loose Trails to the Quigley Loop Trail. Hikers, trail runners, mountain bikers and adaptive mountain bikers will be able to access the Hangman drainage from the Quigley side and vice-versa.
This connector trail will be about 1 mile long, and will feature 521’ of elevation gain, great for beginner to intermediate hikers, mountain bikers, trail runners and adaptive mountain bikers. Additionally, this trail will be built and maintained to a 48” tread width allowing adaptive mountain bikers , community members with mobility limitations, beginners, and families to experience the same joy and challenge the rest of our Valley’s trail system offers. This wider tread width accommodates adaptive mountain bikes up to 36” wide, strollers and anyone needing a bit more breathing room than the typical 18 - 24” singletrack trail provides.
Samson’s rampage
Winding through the scenic slopes of Croy Canyon, the new Samson’s Rampage Trail offers a sweeping wide-open experience for all trail users. Designed primarily for motorized use, the trail delivers a beginner-to-intermediate challenge for dirt bikers and an intermediate-to-advanced ride for mountain bikers looking to grunt up the climbs. Trail runners and hikers will enjoy a South Valley trail with some “punchy” climbs that will keep you on your toes (literally!)
Stretching 5.5 miles between 5,792 and 6,410 feet in elevation, this singletrack offers medium exposure, and grades averaging 10% with occasional steep pitches up to 25%. Riders will enjoy sweeping canyon views, stretches of solitude, and the physical challenge of sustained climbs and descents.
